Job Description: Technology & Operations The Global Client Services (GCS) team is responsible for delivering flexible, scalable, and tech-enabled client service, working in partnership with our client businesses and teams across the firm. Our functional teams include: Global Onboarding (Implementation and Contracting), Investor Services (Client Order Management and Service Centers), and Transfer Agency Services. The Onboarding team is part of BlackRocks Global Client Services division and encompasses both the Implementation & Contracting functions responsible for bringing new client and business opportunities onto the BlackRock platform across the firms various business channels. The team plays an active and visible role with our clients and works closely with the Client & Investment businesses, Legal, critical operations teams and external services providers to deliver a superior One BlackRock client experience. Team Overview The OnBoarding-Contracting Team (Team) plays a key role in onboarding new clients within BlackRock and managing change for existing clients with respect to the contractual set up. The team focuses on the drafting, negotiation, co-ordination and execution of investment management agreements, investment guidelines and other related documentation for new clients and existing institutional clients. Trading documentation (ISDAs and CSAs) and fund documentation (Fund IMAs and prospectuses) are out of scope for this team. The Team partners closely with the Institutional Client Business, Legal and Compliance, OnBoarding teams, Invoicing and other internal groups to ensure BlackRocks contracts balance commercial outcomes with appropriate risk management and fiduciary obligations. We cover a broad range of clients including pension funds (public and private), insurance companies, foundations/endowments, sovereign wealth funds and central banks each of whom may transact in different investment strategies, products, instruments and markets offered by BlackRock. Role Responsibility As a Vice President within OnBoarding-Contracting, you will support a growing area in a dynamic and challenging environment. You will be responsible for covering one or more business lines by managing the business contract portfolio, including new clients and change events for existing clients, and successfully negotiating contracts on behalf of the business. Key Responsibilities Drive the contracting process from initial drafting through negotiation completion for your portfolio of business Own a client channel and supervise the book of work for that channel including complexity assessment and case assignment Facilitate and coordinate internal stakeholders across different functions involved in the contracting process, ensuring their comments flow through to the contract and requisite approvals are obtained Manage internal and external client expectations throughout the negotiation process Ensure that the appropriate contracting process is followed to mitigate risk to BlackRock Ensure that all identified potential issues are disseminated to potentially impacted internal stakeholders for review, discussion, negotiation and resolution Capture and record relevant non-standard contractual clauses on an ongoing basis and maintain the contractual documentation database Ensure that all completed contractual documentation is properly filed and circulated to relevant internal groups Identify opportunities for process and client experience improvements Support the sales team with contractual documentation queries Experience Experience/Qualifications: Proven ability to draft and negotiate complex legal contracts Strong communication and presentation skills Knowledge of the asset management industry (fund types, client base and strategies, operational set up and products) and applicable law and regulations Strongly proficient in standard software (e.g. Microsoft Office) JD is a plus Competencies: Strong transaction manager possessing the ability to efficiently manage competing internal and external client demands and tight timelines as well as the ability to offer practical solutions to the business Ability to independently manage tasks and workload with some guidance and oversight Exemplary analytical, communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills when dealing with both internal and external clients at all levels, and across functions and regions Ability to think out of the box, to navigate complex internal processes and functions, and be able to offer practical and sensible solutions that will be mutually beneficial to both the client and Blackrock Demonstrated ability to balance client needs with BlackRock policies and operational procedures; possess excellent regulatory and technical awareness in order to understand associated risks and provide innovative, risk-free and compliance friendly solutions Ability to be a team player is crucial Possess the ability to adapt to complex and ever-changing internal processes and requirements and not be bound by prescribed rules, checklists and processes Flexible and open to accepting new challenges; able to work effectively and efficiently on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, demanding and ever changing environment while maintaining the highest standard and attention to detail BlackRock is proud to be an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer.
