Reporting directly to the Director, Taxation of Brookfield Asset Management LLC, the role of Manager, Taxation will assume responsibility for supporting with US tax compliance for private and public funds in the Brookfield Private Equity Group ( PEG ). More specifically, the role entails coordinating all aspects of US federal, state and local tax compliance for the PEG funds, including serving as point person for any tax authority interaction. This position will also support US corporate tax compliance for the Global Manager group at Brookfield Asset Management. Support K-1 tax reporting for PEG funds sponsored by Brookfield;
Assist with timely filing of US federal, state and local tax returns for private and public PEG funds;
Coordinate the federal, state and local quarterly estimated tax payments required of corporate entities in PEG;
Log and respond to all PEG tax correspondence with US taxing authorities;
Coordinate the estimated federal tax payments required relating to ECI and FDAP payments for entities in PEG;
Prepare and maintain current US tax basis figures and earnings and profits balances for relevant entities in PEG;
Assist with Brookfield s FATCA and CRS registration and compliance program as it pertains to PEG entities;
Identify US federal, state and local efficiency opportunities in Private Equity Group;
Support US corporate tax compliance for BAM s Global Manager group;
Assist with Global Manager and PEG internal reorganizations and other tax projects as required.
Qualified CPA with at least 4 years of federal, state and local partnership tax experience in a Big 4 public accounting firm and/or in industry with a large fund group;
Strong technical grasp of and experience with tax accounting under US GAAP and/or IFRS;
Strong technical knowledge of US tax rules relating to taxation of partnerships and partnership withholding;
Experience managing large tax compliance processes and assignments;
Basic understanding of cross-border tax issues and US treaty analysis;
Able to communicate complex tax matters in a clear and concise manner;
Ability to multi-task and work in a very fast-paced and team-oriented environment; and
Excellent project management skills and applies a pragmatic and efficient approach to handling complex assignments.
