The Director of Product Development and Production, Lauren RTW- Wovens is responsible to lead the Wovens team for the development and execution of the product strategy for the brand to create best overall value in terms of product, price, lead-time and quality. To develop a globally minded team of strong performers ready to take more within the organization. Partner with the Design, Merchandising, Technical Design, and Raw Materials Teams, as well as Sourcing Offices and Factories to ensure the integrity of product from salesman sample to bulk production.. Essential Duties & Responsibilities. Product Development. Ensure the quality level of the goods are in the limits of the defined quality standards of the Brand. Analyze and ensure the team is approving the best global offerings (price/lead-time/delivery/quality). Learn about customers and products' market, act as the voice of the customers. Research competitors and similar products.. Communicate brand, product and customers' expectations to Sourcing team & Product Integrity. Understand Brand Strategy through involvement in the Seasonal Design Concept Meeting. Drive the regional sourcing decision to secure max flexibility (post market buys) by partnering with Design, Merchandising, Fabric and Trim and maintaining the product quality standards. Costing and MU Goal Management. Lead and support the team throughout the costing process from the development stage to secure the right cost. Monitor and analyze Cost and Margin goal to ensure it is achieved or exceeds. Partner with leadership to drive the strategy which mitigates macro trend impacts in each season. Flag to merchants and design on the styles that concern MU goals - work on cost options. Product Management. Analyze product development issues and proactively communicate any delays in samples and/or production to cross functional partners and leadership. Lead and monitor the approval process (proto, s/sample and all components) to ensure on time arrival of all s/samples to the showroom.. Communicate and resolve potential issues that affect meeting deadlines. Drive and lead discussions / meetings for the category to ensure deliverables are being met. Oversee all the deadlines for fit approvals, sample dates and production timing are maintained. Monitor OK-To-Buy date in relation to calendar. Manage the factory performance by monitoring flexibility on production, lead-time and quality of fit and shipment samples.. Analyze fact driven data to support overall brand and corporate strategies. Experience, Skills & Knowledge. Bachelor's Degree. 8+ years of experience in the apparel industry. 4+ years of experience leading a production or product development team. Knowledge of woven fabric and garment manufacturing process. Knowledge of apparel product development; includes experience in denim, leather products. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Strong communication and cross-functional team collaboration skills; ability to work closely with Design, Technical Design, Raw Materials, Merchandising and Planning Teams, as well as with agents/factories and DC. Strong organizational skills with detailed attention to product information.
